On 9. May 1854 Pastor Wilhelm Löhe founded the Diakonie Neuendettelsau, so that men and women could provide a service to the needy in the name of the Christian faith.
Although the work has changed constantly and will continue to develop further, the basic aim has remained the same: bearing witness to the Christian gospel, both in word and in deed. As co-workers employed by the Diakonie Neuendettelsau we wish to "shape lives".
Three main aims form the basis throughout our work:
We are well aware that these three targets appear contradictory, but we openly face up to them in our daily work and strive to overcome these seemingly contradictory targets.
According to the preaching of the gospel we respect the dignity of every individual and shape our relationships together in a reliable and trusting way. We do our utmost to work with those that we are responsible for, in order to enhance lives with a sense of purpose and we develop and practise all forms of spiritual life with them.
Our founder, Pastor Wilhelm Löhe considered professionalism to be important. From the beginning he provided for a thorough and varied training. Even nowadays the quality of our work depends greatly on the standard of training and the social competency of our staff, to whom we offer up-to-date continuous personal development.
We use our available resources responsibly and creatively and access new resources, where necessary. Thus we secure the economic basis of our work and provide a prospective for the future.
